In the Snehan procedure, medicated oils are administered either internally (Sneha Pana) or externally (Abhyanga). This treatment is crucial as it loosens the Ama (toxins) and Doshas in the body, thereby facilitating their expulsion during the initial stage of treatment. This therapy is used prior to the detox therapy.
Swedana is a cleansing-cum-stress relieving therapy which involves inducing sweat in the patient. It channels Aam (toxins) inside the body, to places from where they can be easily ejected by the system during Pradhanakarma. During Swedanas, the sweat-inducing agent is carefully directed along the surface of the body. This movement gently dislocates the toxins inside and channels them to specific sites.
